May is one of the main characters. While the show follows the life of the vessels, it also follows her own as she helps the vessels through their issues. After the events of Twelve, May dedicates her life to being a guardian angel and helping those around her, and encourages her family to do the same
At the very beginning of the show, in episode 1, May argues with her mother shortly before sneaking out of her home and attempting to run away. However, she is struck down by lightning and her body is incinerated, killing her. Right before her death, though, her paw lands on a pocket watch. She wakes up in a white void, surrounded by ticking pocket watches. Here, she meets Imp, who later curses her, giving her the ability to be a guardian angel to the vessels.
Throughout the course of twelve days, May helps the twelve vessels with their issues; she gets Ivy out of her abusive relationship with Reed, she helps Heather obtain freedom, she helps Thistle make a friend (or two), she helps Ebony find a home, she helps Rose come out to her parents, she helps Fennel confess his feelings to Cosmo, she helps Lupine find a home, she helps Poppy build up confidence, she helps Mallow get along with Ginger, she helps Willow make friends, and finally, she helps Rue move past the loss of Oak. In between Rose and Fennel, May is a guardian angel to Cypress, but fails her job for the first (and only) time. After all this, Imp brings May back to life, and that's the end of the show (until Origins).
May grapples with lots of guilt over the fates of the vessels, mostly Cypress. she often experiences nightmares of her past self shaming her for not being able to do more. Because of this guilt and the experience she want through, May wants to be the best most supportive person she can for those around her.
In Origins Season 1 Episode 2, May is shown with her children, Heather and Sai (nickname for Cypress), both named after the vessels who died. These children also appeared in the finale of Twelve as Imp is showing May her future.
In the finale of Origins Season 1, May takes Simon to his old home (with Imp's help) where he reunites with his mother. However, when he learns that his mother chose not to come with him, May leads him back home without her. She barely gets back to her body in time, but she makes it. She was able to change the fate of Simon, proving that Imp's belief in his inability to change fate and blind faith in his foresight is incorrect. Her and Simon begin a romantic relationship, stating that the family they're already with, each other, and their friends are all the family that they need.

May's birthday is May 18th, she was named after the month she was born in.
There are multiple cut episodes from Origins Season 1. In one of these episodes, May dies in a collapsing building trying to save a young puppy named Coriander from a fire. However, Imp is able to bring her back to life for a third time.
